Soyasaponins and Related Glycosides of Desmodium canadense and Desmodium illinoense

Seed extracts of Desmodium canadense (L.) DC., a native Canadian legume, were examined by HPLC and electrospray ionization mass spectrometry (LC/MS) for the presence of triterpenoid saponins of the oleanene type. An aqueous methanol extract, fractionated by use of a DiaionTM HP-20 macroporous resin, was found to possess soyasaponin III (soyasaponin Bb ́) and the 2,3-dihydro-2,5-dihydroxy-6-methy...

Two New Prenylated Flavonoids From Paracalyx Scariosa

Two new prenylated flavonoids, named scariosin (1) and isorhynchospermin (2) were isolated from the leaves of paracalyx scariosa together with kaempferol, quercetin, kaempferol 3-O- rutinoside and rutin. The structures of (1) and (2) were characterized as 8-C- prenyl- taxifolin 7,3'-dimethylether and 6-C-prenylquercetin 7,4'-dimethylether by their chemical and spectra data, respectively.

Two new flavonoids from Andrographis rothii.

Two new flavonoids, 5, 7, 2', 5'-tetramethoxyflavanone (1) and 5-hydroxy-7, 2'-dimethoxyflavone (2), together with two known flavones, skullcapflavone I (3) and echioidin (4) were isolated from the whole plant of Andrographis rothii. The structures of the new compounds were established by extensive one- and two-dimensional (1D- and 2D-) NMR spectral studies.

Sphingobacterium canadense sp. nov., an isolate from corn roots.

A free-living Gram-negative bacterial strain CR11(T) was isolated from corn roots. Polyphasic taxonomy was performed, including API20 NE and API50 CH bacterial identification kits, Biolog analysis, lipids and fatty acid analysis, DNA-DNA hybridization, 16S rRNA and cpn60 gene sequence analyses. 16S rRNA gene sequence analysis indicated that strain CR11(T) belonged to the genus Sphingobacterium ...
